Institute of Internal Auditors
Established in 1941, the Institute of Internal Auditors is the recognized professional association for internal auditors, with member also working in risk management, governance, and internal controls. The IIA has more than 180,000 members worldwide. The IIA’s certifications include the Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) professional and the Certified Professional EHS Auditor (CPEA).
Global Reporting Initiative
The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is the most widely-adopted framework for reporting on Sustainability (or Non-Financial Information). GRI’s guidelines provide a framework and parameters for reporting on organization and governance, environmental, economic, and social issues. The G4 iteration of the guidelines introduces the concept of materiality analysis and reporting to non-financial reporting.
Sustainable Accounting Standards Board
Stakeholders have been clamoring for more social, environmental, and non-financial information in financial filings. The Sustainability Accounting Standards Board’s mission is to develop and disseminate sustainability accounting standards for public corporations to disclose material, decision-useful information to investors. The SASB’s Board includes two former SEC commissioners and the Honorable Michael Bloomberg.
The EHS Journal is an international online magazine was designed for and by environmental, health, and safety professionals for the purpose of sharing knowledge and facilitating discussion within our profession. Since their launch in January 2010, they have published articles and images from more than 200 contributors.
